MQ‑6 LPG/Propane Gas Sensor – Rapid, Reliable Detection

The MQ‑6 is a low‑cost semiconductor gas sensor designed for the detection of LPG, propane, methane and other combustible gases. Advanced anchor layers and a zirconium dioxide sensing film provide high sensitivity and excellent linearity over a wide concentration range, making the device ideal for safety monitoring, HVAC systems, and automotive applications. Its compact 12 mm × 5 mm package and low power dissipation (≈75 µA quiescent current, 30 µA load current) simplify integration into battery‑powered projects.

Convenient TTL/analog outputs are available; the sensor offers a quick response time (≈15 s to 5 % change in concentration) and a linear voltage swing that can be read directly by microcontrollers, facilitating fast and accurate gas level monitoring.
